Boundary joint sealing kit

  • Clean the gutter back to its original base material and ensure it is level across the width of the gutter where the kit is to be fitted (grinding out any irregularities if necessary)
  • Paint this area with high penetration bitumen primer and allow to dry
  • Peel the backing paper from one side of the bituminous strip
  • Pre-heat the strip and place across the width of the prepared area ensuring the strip is pressed tight into the gutter creases
  • Peel the backing paper from the top of the strip and pre-heat
  • Run the liner 10mm over the strip (Do not cut flush with the bituminous strip), ensuring the liner is pressed firmly into the gutter creases
  • Peel the backing paper from one side of the second bituminous strip and pre-heat
  • Place the bituminous strip on top of the liner ensuring the strip is pressed tight into the gutter creases
  • Peel the backing paper from the top of the second strip and pre-heat
  • Place the pre-punched plastic-coated steel strip on top of the two strips and liner
  • Using the pre-punched holes as a guide, the first fixing should be 25mm from the gutter crease
  • With a chisel tap the joint ensuring the build-up is tight into the gutter crease, followed by a fixing 25mm up the gutter slope
  • Complete the fixings up the gutter slope followed by the gutter sole
  • Again, with the chisel tap the joint tight into the gutter crease making sure no air pockets are present
  • Complete fixing to the opposite slope
  • Slowly warm two fixings a time until the bitumen starts to ooze out either side of the pre-punched flashing
  • At this point fully tighten the fixings
  • Keep warming the fixings until the strip is fully fixed around the gutter
  • When the bitumen cools you will have a watertight seal between the original gutter and the Plygene Gutterline. This will prevent any water backtracking under the liner
