The Plygene® Gutterline System

Engineered to Guarantee Leak Prevention

Leaking gutters are a common commercial property concern and one that should be dealt with as soon as it is noticed. Installing a gutter lining system will help to protect the existing gutter and prevent water damage by creating a waterproof barrier that will prevent water from overflowing onto the building’s structure.

Unlike competitors’ general roofing products, Plygene Gutterline is a gutter lining system specifically engineered to restore and preserve gutter performance.

Providing a 25 year guaranteed, seamless “gutter within a gutter” system, Plygene Gutterline offers a bespoke solution with minimal building disruption and is an effective alternative to full gutter replacement.

It is the only BBA certified gutter lining system approved for the harsh rigours of the gutter environment.

Why use the Plygene® Gutterline System?

  • Non-bonded and will not fail due to building movement, unlike liquid coatings
  • Installation is not weather dependant like a liquid coating
  • Guaranteed to provide a waterproof membrane
  • Provides at least 20% more gutter capacity than a fold-out system
  • Quicker and easier to install than a fold-out system
  • Ensures a lower CO2 footprint than a fold-out system
  • The only BBA-accredited gutter lining system
  • 25 year guarantee by use

How do our new LRPs improve Plygene® Gutterline?

We’ve taken the market leading product and made it even better, with the introduction of our new Liner Retention Plates (LRPs).

  • LRPs leave the base of the gutter clear, eliminating any potential interference with gutter flow
  • LRPs make cleaning and maintaining the gutter much easier
  • Quick and easy to install, saving valuable labour time
  • More environmentally friendly than our previous hold down straps
  • Now available in 13 sizes

Bespoke Design

Plygene Gutterline’s bespoke design allows it to be installed in any commercial gutter network whatever the width, length or complexity. Installed by Sharman’s network of registered Approved Contractors, all project works are inspected and certified to exacting quality standards.

Through ongoing product development, the system components are designed to meet the challenges of all gutter configurations whatever their complexity. It is the leading system of choice providing complete peace of mind for contractors and their end clients.

The System

The system design is made up from four key elements which are:

  • The thermoplastic liner
  • The specified fixings (fasteners, flashings and stop ends)
  • Drainage components (standard outlets, bespoke moulded outlets, syphonic kits, leaf guards, etc.)
  • Network components (bespoke moulded T-junctions, corners, weirs, etc.)

Each of these elements forms an integral part of the design and system guarantee. Manufactured to cloak the existing detail, they are mechanically fixed and welded to the system liner to eliminate the risk of water ingress. Moreover, forming part of a system designed to move independently of the substrate, they are not susceptible to splitting through thermal movement that’s associated with bonded membranes.

Engineered prefabrication of the units also significantly reduces the substrate preparation works required and the installation time to minimise building disruption.

Liner

A thermoplastic, durable, hard-wearing and flexible liner that is bespoke creased to the profile of the existing gutter.

Fixings

Fixing specifications for mechanically trapping and pinning the liner and all of the system components. These include gutter stop ends, flashings, galvanised LRP’s and a specific range of fixings for each different type of gutter substrate.

Drainage

There are many types, shapes and sizes of outlets for rainwater drainage.
Sharman’s system supports them all, including gravity systems, syphonic, vortex, weir and emergency overflow to name just a few, along with other drainage components such as leaf guards.

Network components

A roof’s gutter network will include
transition components to link sections of gutter system, including T-junctions, corners and other bespoke elements.

Leister TRIAC AT Basic Roofing Kit 120v - Hot Air Welding Gun

Make your Plygene welding experience even easier, with the Leister Triac AT 120v hot air welding gun. The TRIAC AT Digital version of the Roof Welding Kit brings full digital control and the ability to set temperature and blower speeds independently of each other for even better welding control. With a comprehensive suite of diagnostic software the TRIAC AT will even show the operator when there is (or isn’t) adequate voltage from the generator to be able to weld effectively.

Kit contains:

  • Leister TRIAC AT 120v
  • Leister 40mm Slot Nozzle (15° angled)
  • Leister 20mm Slot Nozzle (Bent 15° Angled)
  • Leister 40mm Silicone Pressure Roller with ball bearing
  • Leister 6mm Brass Pressure Roller
  • Seam Inspection Probe

BBA Certified

Within the UK roofing industry, Plygene Gutterline is the only commercial lining system accredited by the BBA for the gutter environment. Onerous testing in the areas dimensional stability, tear strength, tensile stregnth, elongation, heat resistance and low temperature flexibility make Plygene Gutterline the first choice for both specifiers and contractors alike.

UV Certification

Independant accelerated outdoor ultra violet (U.V) testing by Q-Labs in the arduous sub tropical high intensity sunlight of Southern Florida have been ongoing since May 1997 and provide a U.K U.V certification of 39 years… and rising.

Independently tested against leading rigorous industry standards, the systems have been specifically designed for the gutter and roof environments. Installed into the commercial roof sector since 1985, our systems have stood the test of time, providing complete peace of mind to specifiers.

These market leading systems are underpinned by a range of guarantees to choose from.

Totally unique

Our market leading Plygene gutter lining system is made from an incredibly strong thermoplastic blend engineered specifically for the gutter environment: resistant to mechanical damage, highly durable and weathertight, it withstands foot traffic and is UV resistant maintaining its performance integrity for the full lifecycle of the building. Plygene contracts and expands to suit all environmental conditions without impacting the gutter’s performance or structural integrity.

Non-bonded for expansion and movement

The seamless gutter lining system is non-bonded in design and thermally expands and contracts independently from the the gutter substrate material. This means that as the gutter itself thermally moves, the integrity of the gutter lining is not compromised and will not craze and crack like liquid coatings, or open at the joints like other bonded systems. Hence performance integrity is fully designed into the full product lifecycle.

Maintaining or improving rainwater performance

With its unique design configuration that eliminates the need for any sole board or system build up, Plygene Gutterline ensures that the original rainwater flow rate for the building is maintained and in some instances is improved.

Not weather dependent

Installation of the Plygene Gutterline system is not subject to the vagaries of the weather and can be installed in damp or light rain conditions and doesn’t need an ambient temperature of 5 degrees and rising. It therefore provides contractors with all year around availability to refurbish leaking gutters.

Seamless and continuous

The system is seamless in design to eliminate the need for problematic joints that corrode and fail primarily as a result of thermal movement across seasonal cycles over a number of years. Designing out these points of failure extends the performance integrity of the Plygene Gutterline system providing a permanent and guaranteed solution to stop gutters leaking for good.

Engineered to deliver improved installation

Plygene Gutterline is designed to reduce site complexity and is quicker to install compared to the likes of liquids and traditional bonded membranes. It is non–bonded in design eliminating the need for extensive remedial cleaning prior to fitting and the system’s bespoke moulded components reduce labour complexity during installation. The net result is faster installation and less building disruption.

We’ve taken the market leading product and made it even better, with the introduction of our new Liner Retention Plates (LRPs).

  • Quick and easy to install, saving valuable labour time

Whether you’re a Building Surveyor, Facilities Manager, Contractor or other Building Service Professional, Plygene® Gutterline is simply the best leak prevention system.
